THE BALTIC LANDS
North-East Countries

These three countries "wedged" between three closed other countries (Russia, Bielorussia and kaliningrad) were always the only ones that I had not visited.

Indeed, because of their geographical location, they could not be integrated easily in adventure "East mysteries".

Moreover, it is imperatively necessary to avoid "forbidden" countries around because of sanctions risks. However, these countries have also their interests, historical, and for Estonia, medieval…

Lituania

After a small stop on the Polish shores, I arrived here in Lithuania, without problem, although I have taken care to avoid the Kaliningrad border, this small country which belongs to Russia. Vilnius, its capital, impressed me by the beauty and the cleanliness of all its monuments also with history which come from. Vilnius remains a city full with curiosities and when we go a little too far from the city center, we discover the heights of the city which offer to us, an impressive view on the small Lithuanian capital…

Latvia

Riga is a city full of surprises! This is here I learned that the links between France and Latvia existed already since the first world war because of a French general who released the the city and the people located on the sea border.
We will find elsewhere many French coffee names or restaurants. The city seems to be a mix between the houses of Copenhagen in Denmark and with medieval side of Tallin in Estonia (see below).

Estonia

Tallinn. The Medieval city !
When I first arrived in Tallinn I was accomodated with open arms by a band of merry troubadours in front of some bars, a beer in the hand…
The medieval aspect of this town had charmed me on the following day, because it is all made at the top, with its castles but also with its medieval small shopkeepers with so much imagination to be in harmony with medieval environment.
Even in the villages neighbourhood, this medieval side is still very present and it is not rare to visit a castle being located not far…
Tallinn will see me again, sword in the hand, that's for sure...
